Then I look in your eyes
And I see grey looking back at me.

Hum-Drum
Hum-Drum
Listen to the rain
Hum-Drum
Hum-Drum
Words swirling round my brain –
Soggy, wet, dreary
Rain begone
Come back sunshine
And fine days.
But recently
Our view has changed –
Wel-Come
Wel-Come
Hear the new refrain
Wel-Come
Wel-Come
Water gurgling in the drain.

My head spins.
You’d think it would stop sometime.
Oh well.
So sick of navel gazing.
Maybe I’ll try naval gazing instead
And ponder God’s thoughts
Given form in the sea breezes.
You spoke to me
(Though not in as many words)
God, I just can’t contain
This feeling of joy!
Feel I’m gonna burst
It’s all gonna burst out of me!
You’ve opened my eyes
Just that little bit more
And moved my feet
Just one more step.
Oh God,
Such a small advance,
But it makes me feel
My journey feels half over –
I know it was you
I know you directed my steps!

I find myself torn
Happy, yet also
Disappointed.
Hungry for love I succumb
Then I become
Angry
With myself
With the world that shaped me.
How did you see me
Before?
And now?
Am I really so different?
